During the COVID-19 pandemic, this is more essential than ever. More people than ever before are in need of help – and in such a difficult year, it can be easy to forget about how much good is still out there in the world.
The team here at Protectly.co make an effort to help individuals and the community in a variety of ways – and we are always looking for new ideas and different ways to help. One of the ways in which we often offer our help is through donations and discounts provided to those who need access to PPE. By doing this, we can increase access to high-quality masks and help to keep our communities stay as safe as possible. We believe that consistent effort and generosity is the way to create change.
One of the people who reached out to our team recently was the chairman for the Horizon Air Pilots Union, who sent us an email inquiring about how we could help their organization. Horizon Air Pilots Union is the Regional Carrier for Alaska Airlines. When they found out that Protectly.co was a local organization, their chairman reached out to our team. They proposed that N95 masks could be provided at a discounted price to Union Pilots, which would help to keep pilots safe with good quality PPE during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as supporting Protectly as a local business in Portland, OR.
As pilots are essential workers and part of the National Transportation System, it was clear that there had to be a way for Protectly to reach out and help pilots to stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of offering a discounted price, the team at Protectly.co decided that we would donate 800 kits to the Pilots Union, free of charge. The kits that we donated included a USA-made KN95 mask and a USA-Made 3PE N95 mask.
We chose to do a donation as a form of free trial to the Pilots Union. This meant that the pilots could see if they liked the equipment we provided them with. If they did, that would mean that there would be more opportunities for teamwork and collaboration between Protectly and the Pilots Union in the future.
